My name is Jessie (go figure), and in March 2016 I gave myself a kick in the pants and decided to get serious about getting fit and eating healthier on a regular basis. This is the first time that I’ve really tried to figure things out for myself without someone making workouts for me (I’ve been on a lot of sports teams in the past which have helped to keep me active but not really thinking about what I needed to do to be fit) so I’m going to be using this blog to keep track of things that I try out and my general progress.

I have a longterm goal of running my first marathon before I’m 30 (this seems so far away, but I want to give myself lots of time) and running my first half-marathon before or while I’m 25 (this is a little nearer in the future). I also want to make sure I’m taking care of my body and learning what it needs in order to sustain and grow through the workouts that I’m going to be doing so I’m doing my best to eat healthy. This is no easy feat for me as I have a giant sweet tooth, and I’m trying to find healthy alternatives to those sweet recipes that I crave so badly.

I’m also:

  • A bookworm
  • A nerd
  • Best friend to a furry (and sadly aging) Aussie Shepherd named Jack
  • A slight foodie
  • A big travel/exploration fan
  • A hobbyist photographer
  • A huge goof-ball; and
  • Proudly Canadian (eh!)
